Volunteering at Reed Procedures & Policies for the 2025-26 School Year

We welcome family and community members to volunteer in our school!

Please consider completing a New or Returning volunteer online application so you can help with:

  • Class parties
  • Field trips
  • Art Vistas
  • International Day
  • Fall Festival
  • Walk-a-Thon
  • And more!

It can take up to 30 days to process applications so plan early. Start now to avoid the rush!


NEW VOLUNTEERS

  2. SJUSD will email you with next steps. 
  3. You must submit a negative TB test to volunteer@sjusd.org
  4. Once SJUSD receives the TB test, you will then receive an email with fingerprinting instructions. You may make an appointment with SJUSD for free fingerprinting at the district office or pay a private company for fingerprinting. 
  5. Once cleared fingerprint results are received, SJUSD will email you that you are cleared to volunteer at Reed! 

*Fingerprinting appointments at the district office can fill up quickly in August and September. You are encouraged to begin the process now.

RETURNING VOLUNTEERS

1. Submit an application each school year. (No additional fingerprinting required. A negative TB test result is good for 4 yeas).

2. You will receive a confirmation email from SJUSD that you are approved to volunteer at Reed for the 25-26 school year.

NOTE: If you would like to volunteer at Reed, you must be cleared by SJUSD every school year. Only District-cleared volunteers will be allowed to work with students. We appreciate your willingness to support Reed School; please understand that the safety of our students is a top priority.
